Skeletal Muscle Histology

Skeletal muscle has striated appearance. It is under voluntary control and is innervated by somatic motor nerve. A muscle fiber or simply a muscle cell consists of:

  • Sarcolemma
  • ‘T’ tubules
  • Sarcoplasm
  • Sarcoplasmic reticulum
  • Mitochondria
  • Myofibrils
  • Myofilaments
